Littlehampton beach clearing team’s hard work is praised

VOLUNTEERS who gave up their time to keep one of Littlehampton’s prized beauty spots litter free have been praised.

The sterling efforts of the eight-strong group saw 14 bags of rubbish cleared from West Beach in Littlehampton, earlier this month.

The sacks were filled with disposable BBQs, plastic bags and food containers all of which had been left scattered across the beach and sand dunes.

The West Beach Volunteers meet on the first Wednesday of every month from 10:30am to 12:30pm to take part in litter clearing and other tasks such as plant surveys and clearing away invasive plants.

Dee Christensen, from Arun’s parks department, said: “I am really grateful to the regular volunteers for their hard work.

“West Beach is a beautiful place, visited by thousands of people every summer who come here to enjoy these great natural surroundings.”
