Littlehampton churches’ ROC has been such a solid foundation

The ROC community bus has gone from strength to strength over the past couple of years. The bus continues to visit four sites around Littlehampton, spending two hours at each, during the day. However, a new pit-stop has been added for the residents in West Way, Wick, every Tuesday.

There are now six trained drivers and relationships are developing with regular clients. The bus has also featured at a number of local events and festivals, from Wick Week to the Littlehampton Town Show and Family Fun Day.

Arun Angels has only been in operation for a year but in those 12 months its made a significant impact. The team now has 12 members. Each week a group of three or four hit the streets of Wick, in the high-visibility jackets to speak to residents.

Strong relationships within the community have been forged and the team has noticed the streets now seem quieter on Friday nights and that more people are keen to stop and chat.

The ROC Family Mentoring Scheme, a new project to support families in a positive way, is also going well. Sussex Police provided the funding. It is an initiative in partnership with Arun churches, Arun Community Safety Partnership, the ‘Think Family’ Team and Sussex Police.
