Littlehampton concert in aid of charities for deaf people

Following on from the group’s Strangers concerts, about child evacuees in World War II, the Edwin James Festival Choir is now rehearsing for Scrooge in a Winter Wonderland, conducted by the group’s musical director James Rushman.

The musical Mister Scrooge, with lyrics by George Simmers and music composed by Steve Pogson, will be performed tomorrow and on Saturday and will raise funds for Action for Deafness and Hearing Dogs for the Deaf.

The first half of the concert will see the choir in Dickensian costumes setting the scene with Ebenezer Scrooge bent over his books in a gloomy London counting house.

During the second half of the concert, the choir will sing many of the well-known and not-so-well-known Christmas carols.

The concerts will be performed at St James the Great Church in East Ham Road, with doors opening at 7pm for a 7.30pm start.

Following these concerts, the Edwin James Festival Choir will next perform in the town on Saturday, December 21, to sing carols in aid of St Barnabas House hospice.
