Following a honeymoon spent in Midhurst, the couple initially set up home in Littlehampton, then moved to Scotland.

After a number of turbulent moves, courtesy of the Royal Navy, they finally settled for good in Southfield Road, Littlehampton, along with their two children, Susan and Stephen.

Susan said: “Both Margaret and Harvey have a wide interest in life, foremost is the love of travel, especially in Europe. They particularly enjoy their trips to the Champagne area, where they have made a number of friends.

“From this has developed an interest in entertaining friends and dining out at good restaurants.

“They believe the secret to a long and happy relationship is to be interested in all things and people. A strong social life is essential.”

The 60th wedding anniversary will be celebrated at The Arun View Inn, in Wharf Road, Littlehampton, with a small number of relatives and friends.
