Littlehampton man wins life-saving medals

A LITTLEHAMPTON man who is chairman of a life-saving club has won medals at a national competition.

David Slade, chairman of Horsham Life Saving Club, won the medals at the finals of the UK National Life Saving Championships held in Sheffield on Saturday, in which 219 people from all over the UK and Ireland took part.

David was competing in the masters category, representing the south east in a team drawn from Sussex, Essex, and Kent.

The competition features a range of events, including aquating and dry life support incidents.

David won gold in the line rescue event, silver for the aquatic incident section and came second overall to take silver.
