Littlehampton set for Christmas lights switch-on

LITTLEHAMPTON will be transformed into a winter wonderland next week as the town marks its Christmas lights switch-on.

Residents can expect an evening of entertainment next Friday for the event, hosted by Littlehampton Town Council and the town’s traders’ partnership.

The lights will be switched on in High Street at 7.15pm by Littlehampton mayor Jill Long and a lucky child, who is still to be selected from one of the town’s schools. He or she will also win a 7inch tablet computer from Titan Storage.

Councillor Malcolm Belchamber, chairman of the town council’s community resources committee, said: “It is fantastic to see so many local groups and businesses working together to offer great entertainment and shopping opportunities for residents and visitors alike. All we need now is a dusting of snow to complete the winter wonderland feel.”

Festivities start at 5pm in the town centre and will feature the ever-popular horse-drawn carriage trips near Hunnies with tickets costing £2 per adult, £1 per child or £5 for a family of four.

Other family-friendly attractions will include a puppet show, as well as live performances by the Edwin James Festival Choir, the TLA Steel Band and Ladies That Boogie Pop Choir.

There will be plenty of chances for revellers to pick up some early Yuletide goodies, with a range of stalls selling festive gifts and produce
