Living hope

THE 10th anniversary of a ministry which seeks to strengthen and build overseas churches which began with a solo visit to one country, and has now mushroomed to embrace 14 in several continents, has been celebrated with a thanksgiving service in Lancing.

More than 25 churches from a wide area were represented.

Living Hope Ministries, spearheaded by local pastor, Revd Richard Brunton, is now backed by more than 30 churches and has developed extensive television, radio, literature, and the training of overseas pastors and church planting ministries.

Some of the story was told by Mr Brunton, associate minister at Lancing Tabernacle, and by several of the many co-workers who have accompanied him on his trips to places as diverse as Malawi, India, Bosnia, Poland and Rwanda.

The Revd Graham Jefferson, minister of the New Life Church, Durrington, one of the first to be on Mr Brunton`s council of reference, described the beginning of the work when Mr Brunton responded to an invitation to visit Africa.

The service, at Lancing Tabernacle, featured songs by a married couple from Uganda and celebratory dances by two male members from that country, dressed in native costume.
