Long balloon trip

A balloon in Walberton ended up in a Dutch man's garden.

The balloon took three days to travel about 400 miles from the village to Vlaardingen in Holland.

It was the winner in a race of 65 balloons released as part of a fundraising event between Walberton's school and the Hilton Avisford Park hotel.

The surprised finder of the balloon, Mr Warmerclam, and its purchaser in Walberton, Tracy Hammerschlag, have won overnight stays at the hotel complete with dinner, breakfast and spa treatment as a prize.

The fundraising resulted in 3,000 to benefit the school's book collection.
