Lottery grant boost for local youth

Young people in the Rye area are among those benefitting from National Lottery grants announced this week.

The Young Pioneers project is being awarded £9,572, to work with young people in Rother.

The money will be used to open an educational ‘Media Hub’ for young people who are not in mainstream education, to enable them to develop media based communication skills.

It also aims to improve their self-confidence and develop skills that they can take forward to improve their future prospects for further development and employment.

A total of more than £540,000 is being awarded to 72 groups across the South East through the Big Lottery Fund’s Awards for All grants scheme.

A spokesperson said: “Local projects provide activities that will enable young people to gain new skills and positively impact their communities.”
