Lucky escape in Cooden crash

DRIVERS and passengers escaped without serious injury after a crash in Cooden Drive last Thursday.

The collision between a Vauxhall Astra and Mercedes estate at 9.40am at the Westcourt Drive crossroads.

PC Stuart Watson said "The Mercedes seemed to be travelling east towards Bexhill and the Astra crossed the junction into Westcourt Drive. None of the passengers seem to have suffered serious injury."

The driver of the Astra was a 44 year old woman, believed to be from Chatham. A local man was driving the Mercedes estate, with two passengers: his 15 year old daughter and nine year old son. Fire engine and crew were on hand to give first aid and stabilise the vehicles, and remove the roof of the Astra for the arrival paramedics.
