Magician to give lecture
PUNCH and Judy will be part of an illustrated lecture at Steyning Decorative and Fine Arts Society.
Bertie Pearce, a magician and lecturer in Victorian pastimes, will give an illustrated talk on The Punch and Judy Show, exploring it as a subversive symbol from Commedia dell’Arte to the present day.
Bertie, who lives in Crowborough, is a member of The Inner Magic Circle and he has performed all over the world. He also tours extensively as a lecturer, sharing his passion for Punch and Judy, Victorian pastimes and Charles Dickens.
The meeting is at the Steyning Centre, Fletchers Croft, Steyning, on Monday. Coffee is served at 10am, before the meeting from 10.30am to midday. Visitors pay a £5 donation.
