Magistrates’ Court round-up

Michael Dunn (aged 46), of London Road, Hurst Green, pleaded guilty to failing to stop a Mitsubishi Shogun vehicle for police at Robertsbridge on October 15 and driving while over the limit. He gave a breath alcohol reading of 63mg. The legal limit is 35mg. He was fined £110 and banned from driving for 22 months.

Ray Hayse (aged 38), of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly at Queens Road, Hastings, on October 17. He was give a 12 month conditional discharge.

Christopher Ball (aged 19), of Blackmill Close, Bexhill, pleaded guilty to going behind the till area at Pizza Base, in Ninfield Road, Bexhill, on October 16, with the intent of stealing money. He was sentenced to prison for six weeks, suspended for 18 months. The court also imposed a three month curfew between 8pm and 6am. 

Harry Brown (aged 76), of Kings Road, St Leonards, was sentenced to 24 weeks in prison after pleading guilty to driving while disqualified for an earlier offence of drink driving. He drove a Volvo car on Upper Church Road, St Leonards on October 16. He was in breach of a 12 week suspended prison sentence imposed on January 21 for driving with excess alcohol and driving while disqualified.

Benjamin Loft (aged 36) of Drapers Way, St Leonards, pleaded guilty to failing to provide a breath specimen and driving a Suzuki Grand Vitara vehicle on Ironlatch Avenue with no insurance on October 4. He was sentenced to 12 weeks in prison, suspended for two years, and banned from driving for four years.

Jordan Stiles (aged 23), of Holmesdale Gardens, Hastings, pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm and threatening behaviour. The offences took place at Holmesdale Gardens on July 17. He was given a 12 month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £500 compensation. The court also issued a restraining order.

Chantelle Williams (aged 36), of The Close, Rye, pleaded guilty to stealing cosmetics worth £26.92 from Boots in St Leonards on October 21. She was given a 12 month conditional discharge.

Daniel Howes (aged 42), of Donald Way, Winchelsea Beach, pleaded guilty to harassment in sending a woman a threatening and distressing text message. He was given a 12 month conditional discharge and the court issued a restraining order.

Nathan Young (aged 29), of Millfield, Ninfield, pleaded guilty to using threatening and abusive behaviour towards a woman. The offence took place at Bexhill on September 14. He was given a two year conditional discharge and ordered to pay £100 compensation.

November 5:

Isabella Boon (aged 31), of Crowborough Road, Hastings, pleaded guilty to stealing a pair of jeans worth £29.99 from Sports Direct at Hastings on October 9. She also admitted stealing an electric toothbrush worth £70 from Morrisons, Hastings, on October 10. She was given a 12 month conditional discharge.

Chloe Bray (aged 23), of Saxon Street, St Leonards, pleaded guilty to assault by beating. The offence took place at London Road, St Leonards, on September 17. She was given a six month conditional discharge and the court made a restraining order.

Leonard Goodheart (aged 45), of Fern Road, St Leonards, pleaded guilty to assault by beating . The offence took place at Hastings on September 27. He was fined £240 and the court made a community order with a requirement to attend a domestic abuse programme.

Steven Harris (aged 32) of Cornwallis Gardens, Hastings, pleaded guilty to stealing meat worth £52.03 from Morrisons on August 25. He also pleaded guilty to stealing four legs of lamb worth £40 from Iceland on August 15 and eight blocks of cheese worth £24 from Spar, St Leonards on August 17. The court made a community order with a drug rehabilitation requirement.

Andrew Larkin (aged 34), of Chapel Park Road, St Leonards was sentenced to a total of 35 weeks and six days in prison after pleading guilty to assault by beating. The offence took place at Hastings on August 7.

He admitted being in breach of a 160 day prison sentence, suspended for two years, imposed by magistrates on March 17 for being in possession of a blade in a public place and four offences of shoplifting.
