Making your housevisible could help in an emergency

Community Responders work in conjunction with the Ambulance Service in responding quickly to patients who may be critically ill, using defibrillators to stabilise them.

Alison Kirk said: “Some properties can be difficult to find if there are just names and no house numbers and vital time can be wasted in reaching a patient.

“It is essential that property names are visible from the road.”

Rother Responders are looking for volunteers from the Northiam area to join their team, particularly people who would be available during the daytime from Monday to Friday.

Team Leader John Padovani said: “The CFR Scheme was only established at the end of November 2012 and since then, they have gone from strength to strength and we are hoping to expand further. Thanks to community support we have been able to fund responder kits at a cost of £1,400 which contain defibrillators.”
