Man faces jail for child porn images

A Lewes man who kept more than 3,000 child porn images has been warned he faces a possible jail sentence.

Kitchen porter Vince Weeding, 35, was due to go on trial accused of 46 counts of making and possessing indecent photographs and movie clips of children.

But on the day of his trial he admitted nine counts of simple possession totalling 3,115 images - 47 at the most serious level five.

Lewes Crown Court heard how he bought what he believed was adult porn at a car boot sale but later discovered it also contained child porn.

Prosecutor Warwick Tatford told the court: 'He made a conscious decision to keep the material which was very carefully stored under file names.'

Weeding, of East Street, Lewes, spoke only to confirm his name and enter his pleas during a 10-minute hearing.

Judge Paul Tail adjourned sentencing to July 24 and released Weeding on bail until then, keeping all options open.

He told him: 'No doubt your counsel will argue that a non-custodial disposal is more appropriate.'
