Man fined for taking pictures up women's skirts

A rail commuter who secretly took pictures up women's skirts as he travelled to work on a train has walked free from court.

Guy Knight, 34, targeted attractive young females over a five-month period and took snaps of their legs, breasts and bottoms on his mobile phone.

But the former chartered accountant was caught after he was reported to police by suspicious passengers on the 8.21am Seaford to Lewes train.

Officers found more than 200 images on his phone and laptop, 58 of them focused on the leg, breast and bottom areas.

Brighton Crown Court heard how 10 of the women snapped on the train or station platform were traced by police but none were aware they were being pictured.

Prosecutor Sarah Selby told the court: "When they discovered what had happened they felt violated, shocked, distressed and disgusted."

The court heard that Knight was seen by a fellow passenger photographing a woman from the waist down as she crossed and uncrossed her legs.

On another occasion he was seen following a girl from a ticket machine and photographing her in the waiting room.

But he tried to hide what he was doing by pretending he was listening to music on his mobile phone or sending a text message, the court was told.

Knight, of The Esplanade, Seaford, admitted outraging public decency between May 1 and October 1 last year. He was sacked from his job following his arrest.

Defending Julian Dale said: "The only account he can give is that taking these photographs was some sort of release from stress."

Judge Hubert Dunn fined Knight 500 and ordered him to pay 500 costs.

He told him: "You have to be very careful with your behaviour because this is a very unattractive conviction to have on your record."
