Man’s body recovered from cliffs at Seaford Head

The body of a man has tragically been recovered from the foot of cliffs at Seaford Head.

Police were called to the cliffs at 1.42pm on Thursday (May 28), following reports of a man in an agitated state near the cliff edge, close to Seaford Head Golf Club.

A Sussex Police spokesman said: “The body of a man was found by HM Coastguard and recovered from the foot of cliffs at Seaford Head.

“He had engaged with members of the public and police officers before falling at around 2.10pm.

“The RNLI Newhaven lifeboat assisted the search for the man and recovered a body at around 3.30pm.

“Police believe that they know his identity and enquiries are underway to locate his next-of-kin.”
