Mayoress’ missing badge is found

Initially reported lost in October, the badge was actually mislaid and not lost due to a faulty clasp as originally thought.

It is now safely housed in one of the town hall’s strong rooms.

Vic Walker, Worthing mayor, said: “I am relieved the mayoress’ official badge of office has been found. I didn’t want to be responsible for losing a piece of Worthing’s civic history during my year of office.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those involved in the appeal to find the badge.”

The badge is worn by the mayoress while accompanying the mayor on official engagements.
