People of all ages were welcomed at The Broadwater pub in Worthing for the first meeting on October 8.

Manager Diane Guest was delighted to report some had travelled from Lancing, Durrington and Goring for the first gathering.

She said: “The first Meet Up Mondays couldn’t have gone better. I had the chance to meet some wonderful people from all sorts of backgrounds and with different interests.

“We’re planning the next few meet-ups already and we hope to invite different speakers along each week. We’re confident that this will be the start of something really good to bring locals together.”

The Greene King pub is the first in West Sussex to host Meet Up Mondays, a national scheme designed to bring people together.

Gatherings will be held every Monday from 11am to midday and everyone is welcome. Free tea, coffee and cake will be available.

Worthing Herald readers have welcomed the scheme and hope its success will encourage other pubs in the county to follow suit.
