YOUNGSTERS from the Netherlands are delighted their message in a bottle was found during the Seaford beach spring clean.

In May, up to 40 townsfolk scoured the beach for rubbish. But volunteer Pam Andrews, from Chesterton Drive, had a pleasant surprise when she came across a bottle containing a note from brother and sister Lennart and Dana Jungbauer. While on holiday in Normandy with their parents the youngsters had launched the bottle into the Channel.

Twelve days later it was found by Pam who wrote back telling them it had been mentioned in a Sussex Express report of the spring clean.

The youngsters were thrilled: 'We were very happy to hear that our bottle made it all the way across the Channel to England. As we threw the bottle in the sea on May 12 we had no idea if at all and where it might be found. It was just a bit of fun, like in the old days of sea pirates.'

The pair have since received a copy of the Express article and kindly sent a picture of themselves for Express readers to see.
