Middleton May queen procession

A May Queen and prince are set to be crowned in Middleton on the bank holiday weekend.

The youngsters will lead a procession through the village on Monday, May 5, afternoon to the first May fair to be held by St Nicholas Church.

They were chosen by three judges from the church who visited Bishop Tufnell infant and junior schools.

The queen and prince will be accompanied by six princesses and six attendants.

The parade will leave the schools, in Pennyfields, at 1.30pm to arrive at the fair on Shrubbs Field for its 2pm opening.

The procession will require Middleton Road and Elmer Road to be briefly closed.

The fair replaces the annual June fair held by the church.

Visitors will be able to enjoy a range of stalls, bouncy castle, raffles, tombolas and a barbecue.

The local Brownies and Guides, and the Elmer Players, will be among the community groups present.
