Middleton wives group celebrates half a century

A large gathering of past and present members joined together to celebrate half a century of Middleton Wives' Group.

The guests of honour at the special occasion were Joyce Tilling and Daphne Hann, daughters of founder member, the late 'Teddy' Oakes, who left the club only three years ago.

A birthday cake to mark the golden anniversary was made by former member Valerie McRitter.

Entertainment was provided by Timespan of Arundel who took those present back to Regency days with stories and a vast array of artefacts and costumes.

There was also plenty of time for those present at the Jubilee Hall in Middleton to reminisce.

Middleton Wives' Group meetings are held at 8pm on the second Monday of each month, except August, at the Jubilee Hall.

The club began as the Middleton Young Wives' Group attached to St Nicholas Church in Middleton.
