Charis Holloway, 13, who is a Year 9 student at Millais School, features in two scenes in the film playing her character’s daughter.

Charis said: “I was a bit nervous acting alongside a professional actress, but Leah was so friendly, she made me feel really relaxed on set.

“Leah showed me photos of her own daughter and told me that I looked like her, when she was my age. We did the filming over one and a half years ago, so it’s really exciting, now that it is finally going to be seen in the cinemas.”

Charis, was cast because she matched the profile of Leah’s daughter, who, like her, is a quarter Chinese.

She hopes to get into theatre when she leaves school and has won an audition with the National Youth Theatre.
