Mixed reception for Chandlers’ relocation bid

Prestige car dealer Chandlers has announced plans to move its showrooms out of Angmering and Rustington.

The BMW/Mini dealership wants to relocate its existing premises, at Water Lane, Angmering, and Ash Lane, Rustington, together with a vehicle storage compound at Dominion Way, Rustington, onto a single site south of the A259, at the roundabout junction with the Angmering bypass.

More details of the move will be revealed at a public exhibition in Angmering Village Hall today (Thursday, November 8), from 4-8pm, and there are likely to be mixed reactions to the news.

Ferring Conservation Group has called on its 887 members to protest at the exhibition against the proposals for the new site at Roundstone Farm, in the Ferring/East Preston strategic gap.

However, there will be relief among many Angmering villagers, and particularly for those living near the Chandlers showroom, that the long-rumoured departure of the business now seems a step closer, and their streets could soon be free of cars parked there all day by car salesmen and other staff.
