MORE BEACH HUTS

SEAFORD Town Council agreed to build more beach huts when it met on Thursday.

The huts could go some way to accommodating the 146 people on a waiting list to buy or rent one. The number of huts has not been decided and will be discussed by the beach huts sub-committee which is to re-form.

The council provided 60 new beach huts between the Martello Tower and Splash Point earlier this year. Some were rented and others were sold.

A number of owners re-sold them within a matter of weeks netting themselves a 70 per cent profit.

The new huts will go up on Bonningstedt Parade promenade.

The parade, which runs from the bottom of Edinburgh Road to approximately the bottom of Claremont Road, is owned by the council. There were beach huts on the site about 20 years ago before they were demolished.
