BROADBAND: Peter writes: We have written previously how a small group of local people have been trying to chip away at the problem of the poor broadband performance that so many in Mountfield receive. And it’s not just Mountfield: Dallington, Brightling and just about every other rural parish in East Sussex are in the same boat. Back in October, our group — consisting of Andrew Wedmore (ex-Mountfield and now Brightling), James Fraser (Banks Farm, 0.5 Mbps), Richard Farhall (Banks Cottages 1.6 Mbps) and I made a presentation to Cllrs. Kathryn Field and John Barnes which was very successful and they both pledged their support for the cause. Then, last month, we gave a presentation to our MP, Huw Merriman, which as also very successful with Huw saying that he’d got a better understanding of the true situation in that one hour than he’d been able to get in weeks at Westminster. He is actively planning the next stage of the campaign at regional level. Alongside that, Andrew (he and I are chairmen of our respective parish councils) has successfully engineered a working party which will act as a voice not just for our own parishes but for all the rural parishes in both Rother and Wealden District Councils so the momentum is gathering force and focus. The subject of adequate broadband is too important to leave to those who have so severely let us down so far. We’ll keep you posted.
