Mountfield

Heather Mulligan, 15 Eatenden Lane

I am pleased to report that the Mountfield Childrens’ Christmas Party on 15th December was a great success and everybody who attended had a good time. Thirty six children and over twenty adults were present. The hall had been decorated beautifully complete with a fantastic tree which had been very kindly donated by Powdermill Woods of Powdermill Lane, Battle. When the children first arrived, they had the opportunity to do some Christmas crafts if they wished. They were then entertained by the ‘Mountfield Movers’ (Mickie Gray, Grace Hollamby and Amy Mulligan. ) The girls did several dances on stage and then danced with the party children showing them the moves to some well known songs. The three girls worked out the routines themselves and did very well performing in front of quite a crowd!. The children then played musical statues with Mickie, Grace and Amy watching who moved!. Next there was a game of pass the parcel.

The children then sat up at the tables and pulled their crackers before tucking into a lovely tea consisting of sandwiches, breadsticks, crudites, crisps, cakes, biscuits and mince pies. The grown ups had a cup of tea or coffee at this point along with a piece of cake.

Bells were heard as a special visitor arrived bearing gifts for all of the children much to their delight!. There was a lovely atmosphere and it was so nice to see so many children happy and having a good time Sarah Cole, Amy Ely, Caroline Hollamby and Vicky Staley had done a lot of work preparing for the party before the day as well as spending a lot of time on the day ensuring that everything was done. Luckily, a Christmas Fairy was there with her rubber gloves to do the washing up!. British Gypsum and Mountfield Parish Council both kindly sponsored the party so many thanks to them.

There will be a Service of Lessons and Carols For Christmas at Netherfield Church on Sunday 23rd December at 3.00pm. All very welcome.

May I take this opportunity to wish everybody a very happy and peaceful Christmas.
