Mum says health cuts could have killed baby

A MOTHER of two has praised the services that saved her little boy's life after he fell ill with meningitis-services which could be cut by the Government to save money.

Andrea Cotton-Berry said that baby Lucas could have died if it hadn't been for the swift response of the ambulance, which came from Littlehampton, and the quick thinking of staff at St Richard's Hospital in Chichester.

On Monday evening May 21 at around 6pm, Lucas, who was only three weeks old at the time, had a fit and stopped breathing.

Andrea, from Arundel, said:"It was absolutely horrendous, his eyes were going in different directions. It was terrifying."

She called an ambulance immediately and it reached their home in Kirdford Road within ten minutes.

She said: "I look back and I think he could have died if the ambulance hadn't got here so quickly."
