Music feast at festival

MUSIC-lovers of all tastes will be spoilt for choice during Uckfield Festival with the return of the popular Festival Club and special classical music and jazz evenings.

MUSIC-lovers of all tastes will be spoilt for choice during Uckfield Festival with the return of the popular Festival Club and special classical music and jazz evenings.

The club opens every night at 6pm in the Civic Centre Foyer from Monday to Saturday July 20, and offers festival-goers the chance to catch up with friends at the bar while listening to the best in local music.

Performers include the Peter Davison Jazz Trio, sponsored by Scarecrow Bio-Acoustic Systems Ltd, Ray Whiteway-Roberts and Friends, sponsored by Tully De'Ath Consultants, the Sussex Flute Quartet and Balkan gypsy band Tri-Na-Tri.

Tuesday sees the arrival of Musica Viva at the United Reformed Church with a programme of baroque music on the theme of food and love, while Aulos, sponsored by the Eastwood Foundation, presents an evening of French music at Uckfield Community College on Friday (July 19). Both concerts start at 7.45pm and tickets are 6 with 4 for concessions.

A vibrant and eclectic selection of music finishes off the festival on Sunday July 21 courtesy of the Imperial Male Voice Choir. This fun concert, under the baton of Deborah Miles-Johnson, an international soprano in her own right, takes place at St Philips Church at 7.30pm. Tickets are also 6 and 4 and all tickets are available from the Festival Box Office at the Uckfield Music Company, Olives Yard, Uckfield.
