Mystery moggy has cat-lover purr-plexed

WHILE many families across the area came together to celebrate the festive season, most were blissfully unaware of the mysterious happenings outside one Wick home.

As neighbours in Edwards Way were enjoying themselves during Christmas Eve, one family was left with a “purr-plexing” present after their bird feeder had seemingly been “gobbled up” by a strange, flowerpot feline.

Cat lover, Jenna Capelin, 30, discovered the clay cat in her front garden, placed exactly where her bird feeder had been.

Now, a month later, and with the mystery of the moggy still unexplained, Jenna is asking if Gazette readers can solve the riddle. It was a bit of a shock when I woke up Christmas morning,” she said. “I thought someone must have been playing a Christmas prank on me.

“But when I asked family and friends about it, they said that they had nothing to do with it.

“It was all very funny. Eventually we found the feeder in a nearby field. But to begin with, it looked like this little clay cat had gobbled it up.”

Jenna, who has in the past owned 14 cats, is appealing to the owner of her latest addition to the family to come forward.

Speaking about the flowerpot cat – which her family have named Noel – Jenna said: “We’ve all grown attached to him.

“My 11-year-old daughter has become very fond of him.

“But it’s time for his owner to take him home.

“Obviously, this was just a simple Christmas prank, by some people coming back from a party. No real harm has come from it.”

Jenna added that if Noel’s owner did not come forward, she and the family would “adopt” him and keep him at home, alongside her three pet, tabby cats, Tilly, Lava and Rosie. She said: “He’s the perfect present and has become a lovely addition to the family.”
