National cap for Brendan

SUSSEX Downs College rugby player, Brendan Crean, 17, from Lewes, has been selected to join the prestigious British College's international squad.

Team coach Leigh Puttock said: 'A number of our players have attracted interest from the international team, but Brendan is the most deserved.

'With his hard work, great rugby brain and fine leadership skills we feel that he will progress to his full potential within the game. He has developed into a great all-round player.'

Brendan is on the rugby development course at the college as well as studying A-levels in biology, chemistry and mathematics.

British Colleges Sport was established in 1978 and now more than 150 colleges nationwide take part.
