Netherfield

Maria Standen, Swallow Farm

Netherfield Church - Remembrance Sunday was well attended at Netherfield on a bright and crisp morning. The service was conducted by Father Christopher Channer and commenced with the Act of Remembrance at the memorial in the churchyard. A fitting service with a sermon based on the hymn “I vow to thee, my country” by Sir Cecil Spring-Rice. This was a favourite of Princess Diana and the words, despite appearing to be earthly based, are reference to the two worlds of earth and heaven to which we should all be loyal. In all, very thought provoking and educational.

The service this Sunday November 18 will be a joint Holy Communion for Mountfield and Netherfield at Mountfield and Sunday November 25 will be another joint Holy Communion but at Netherfield. All services are at the usual time of 10 am. Paul Smith, Churchwarden.
