Netherfield village voice

We are looking for donations and sponsorships this year to help with the insurance which is approximately £200.00 for the weekend. Money raised this year will go towards a memorial circular seat around Simon Bishop’s tree on the village green by the bus stop. Thank you, Janette - Netherfield Post Office.

Netherfield Church – We sadly had to say goodbye to Betty Richardson at her funeral last week. Despite Betty’s always cheerful disposition and positive outlook, she had struggled bravely for many years with poor health. The service and burial at St. John the Baptist, was conducted by family friend the Rev. Tony Durkin. The family tributes were moving and throughout the service the message of Betty not wanting a fuss was very evident as was her concern for everyone else, rather than herself. It was a very fitting tribute to Betty who will be missed by all who knew her. Our thoughts and prayers are with Ken and the family.

The first service in September is a Family Service to be held at Mountfield. The following Sunday, September 9 is our turn to host the United Benefice Holy Communion service for Brightling, Mountfield and Netherfield at Netherfield. All services are at 10 am and please check here each week or on notice boards at the churches for our services.

Our next event is a Treasure Hunt on Sunday September 9 starting at 2 pm from The Lodge, Netherfield. Entry is £10 per car, duration of about two hours with cream teas available at the finish. An ideal afternoon for the family, challenging observation and logic, which children seem to be brilliant at! White Hart - There are various groups meeting throughout the month including Boules, The Rover group, The Harley Davidson group, T.R.Cars and The Breakaway Club, if you would like to know more about any of the dates and times or the darts and football teams please give Sean a ring on 01424 838382. The pieste is free to use, any clubs please feel free to come and use the pieste, FOC any time except match days which are Saturday afternoons throughout the season.  We have a group of ladies and Gents that play amongst themselves Monday Lunchtimes.

The Mobile Library will be outside the shop from 11.50 – 12.10 today Friday August 31.
