New branch of WI in Middleton attracts much interest

A new WI has been formed in Middleton to provide a monthly social outing for women.

The Shrubbery WI has been attracting about 25 members for its initial meetings, which are being held at 2pm on the second Monday of each month at St Nicholas Community Hall at the parish church.

Linda Mitchell, the new WI's president, said:"It's all about having a ladies' chinwag.

Monthly meetings are a chance to make new friends, listen to good speakers, learn new skills and hear all that the branch will be doing in the next few months.

"Input from members is important to the committee with regard to speakers and/or demonstrations and we will do our best to act on any suggestions."

The name Shrubbery came about because of nearby Shrubbs Drive.

Speakers for future meetings will be the local police community support officer and a representative of the Sussex Snowdrop Trust.
