New bus shelter for passengers

Bus passengers in Walberton are to benefit from a new shelter.

The shelter is to be installed outside Maple Parade shops on Maple Road.

Its 11,350 will be paid for through money from a development in Barnham where the builders had to provide money to benefit the community.

Parish, district and county councillors from the Downland area agreed the location of the shelter in spite of an objection from a local business.

This stated the shelter would be an eyesore, encourage vandalism and the money could be better spent.

The councillors were told no other suitable sites existed for the shelter.
