A new charity shop has opened in town to raise funds to help families in Sussex.

Lord Lieutenant of East Sussex, Peter Field, opened the Family Support Work shop in Cornfield Road last week and the Rt Rev Richard Jackson, Bishop of Lewes, blessed the enterprise.

Eastbourne MP Caroline Ansell also attended the event.

The charity helps families and children from all walks of life who are referred to it by GPs, health visitors, schools, churches, social services and other voluntary bodies.

Mrs Ansell said, “The charity does very important work helping families through practical and emotional support over the long term which does much to help people avoid getting into crisis situations while allowing children to reach their full potential.”
