New fair set to come to Arundel

A FRESH buzz will soon be coming to Tarrant Street in Arundel every weekend, beginning on April 11/12 with the debut of two innovative and colourful new fairs.

From then, each weekend throughout the year, a large marquee in Tarrant Square will house an artisan fair every Saturday and a vintage one Sundays.

Fourteen stalls will be displaying an array of unusual items on each day, between 10am and 5pm.

Events in Arundel are at the heart of Town and Country Fairs, a new business launched by Ian and Christina Fenwick who have run the Antiquities shop in Tarrant Street for 25 years.

Christina brings a wealth of experience to organising this kind of event as she is chairman of the hugely-successful Arundel by Candlelight, while Ian is chairman of the town’s chamber of commerce.

“We want to add something just a bit different to the town at weekends,” Ian said. “Arundel is competing against things going on all over the area so our aim is to offer something which will liven up the town on a Saturday and Sunday.

“In the past there used to be Antiques Sunday in Arundel and that was very popular. The aim with our fairs is to make Tarrant Street a very vibrant street, draw more people here and encourage them to stay for a while, so the fairs will benefit restaurants and other businesses in the town.”

There will be 14 spaces in the marquee supplied by Arundel-based Ash Kent’s Tents and Events, so stall-holders will be under cover and able to run whatever the weather.

The cost for a six-foot table is £45. For more details, call 01903 884355 or email [email protected]
