New homes developer pledges to create jobs for local people

The company building 216 flats in West Green has made a pledge to provide jobs for local people.

Crest Nicholson Regeneration, the developer of The Apex Apartments, 98 two-bedroom, 115 one-bedroom and three studio apartments, at the junction of Ifield Road and West Green Drive, has signed up to Crawley Borough Council’s Developer and Partner Charter.

Work is scheduled to be completed by autumn 2018. The first residents will move in this autumn.

Crest Nicholson has committed to providing jobs for local people, providing educational and skills opportunities and promoting good and sustainable development and construction practices.

Crest Nicholson is the 13th company to sign a Developer and Partner Charter with the council in the past three years.

Councillor Peter Smith, cabinet member for Economic Development at Crawley Borough Council, signed the charter with Kevin Butler, senior development manager at Crest Nicholson.

Cllr Smith said: “By signing up to the developer and partner charter, Crest Nicholson is joining many other businesses in helping to ensure that Crawley people get the most from r'egeneration in the town.

“As construction continues apace, more opportunities will be available for local employment opportunities with a number of building trades.

“This will provide opportunities for Crest to promote the value of skills and training to young people through school and college visits.

“Crest looks forward to delivering 86 affordable homes for Crawley Borough Council and cementing our partnership through the Charter.”
