Staff at the shop, on the site of the former Blockbuster video rental outlet, were also joined by representatives from Littlehampton-based charity Jamie’s Wish during the event.

The new retailer sells a range of fresh fruit and vegetables as well as coffee and pastries.

Store manager, Michael Simpson, said: “My head has been a real blur this morning. It’s been a long time coming so we’re really happy it’s happened.

“Littlehampton is a great place so we’re all very excited to be opening a store here. I want to know my customers by name and really get to know what matters to them.”

The store is open seven days a week, from 7am to 11pm.
