Seventy-two-year-old Colin Cormac was discovered in the pond at Three Ponds Caravan Park in South Heighton, Newhaven, on the morning of March 25 this year.

An inquest at Eastbourne Town Hall heard on Thursday August 27 that Mr Cormac was under the influence of alcohol and cocaine.

It is believed he had been pulled over by his dog Freya and fell into the pond.

The former delivery driver had a mobile home at the site and his body was discovered by his neighbour, Katrina Bagiolo.

In a statement, Mr Cormac’s children Luke and Robyn said their father had a wide circle of friends but lived alone at the caravan park.

East Sussex coroner Alan Craze said he was satisfied Mr Cormac had died accidentally.

He said, “Sadly, the dog has pulled him over.”
