Ninfield

Cascading colours: Autumn can bring such stunning shades in greens, yellows, and reds, as the leaves slowly change around us, then fading and falling in different browns and ambers. Add to those hues the black, orange and lime green of Halloween, the bright white light of the Bonfire night Sparklers, the fizzy kaleidoscopes of glittering fireworks, and then the commemorative Red of the Poppy for Remembrance day... How amazing that all sorts of colour can create seasons, events and memories; with the last of the year being snowy winter white, and Xmas evergreen. Oh dear...I mentioned the '˜Christmas' word again.. How many weeks already have we been looking at Puddings, Mince pies and Cards in the shops? And now the '˜Whizz-bang-Whhooo' parties are over, we'll have even more paraphanalia popping up, and jingle bell songs, and sentimental TV ads... and then it'll be New Year's Eve, the end of 2016, and we will all be saying.. '˜Where did THAT year go?'! So the last colour to mention is Blue...not for feeling despondent...but for Tempus Fugit- Indigo Fugit..or that old gag again..'Time Flies- like an Arrow...Blue flies- like a banana' !

Ninfeld Action Group: The next meeting will be on Monday 7th November at the Reading Room in Church Lane, starting at 7.30pm. If you were unable to attend the Parish Council meeting last Thursday, then this is the time to go and get the latest updates on all the proposed Local Plan Housing allocations; Parish Councillors will be present, as always, to add information as necessary. I mentioned last weekend that there should have been a release of the plan to view on the 1st of November, but we were informed a couple of days before that there has been a delay in publication due to the length of time getting the myriad of reports together. This is extremely disappointing and frustrating, and the N.A.G group, along with the P.C, are questioning WDC vociferously as to why this has happened. Please go to the meetings, it is so important that the village of Ninfield is not swamped by large, unnecessary housing estates.., there already is another proposed development which is going to be presented to the Village; on the not too distant horizon.. in fact -

Presentation on Proposed Housing Development: Wednesday 9th November from 3-7pm at the Memorial Hall. The Developer, and his team of Architects, are showing the designs for a proposed estate of 80 houses which they are seeking to build in the fields behind Manchester Road in Ninfield. They would like to start the long consultation process, by inviting residents to go up to the Hall and view the plans, and give the company’s representatives some feedback. It is vital that everyone goes to see what is proposed.. Forewarned is forearmed, and, as has been said throughout, while promoting sustainable change, the Village cannot support unsustainable, unnecessary overdevelopment: Wealden District Council has already given an outline planning approval for 55 houses within the Village - please go and give your views to the Presentation, and to both N.A.G and the Parish Council. Thank you.

Ninfield Carnival Assoc: The next meeting is on Wednesday 9th November - ( a much jollier affair!) starting at 8.30pm at the Working Men’s Club.. so if you want to lighten the mood, and have a good chat over a club-priced drink, while deciding on next year’s Carnival entertainment.. you know where we’ll be! And you’ll be made very welcome! The Carnival Committee ran the Bar, donated prizes for the Raffle and generally helped create, and decorate, the brilliant Halloween Ball at the Memorial hall last Saturday evening, which was absolutely fabulous. I can’t do a whole review of the evening here... but all went Spookily well!

Remembrance Services: There will be a Service of Remembrance in St Oswald’s Church, Hooe on Friday 11th November at 10.30am; and following that, on the Sunday, 13th November, Remembrance Day, at St. Mary’s Parish Church, Ninfield, there will be a Combined Parish Eucharist with the Methodist Church also starting at 10.30am.

And Finally..!: An update on the Summer addition to our household... my rescued Feline addition that is!. Bramble-Kat is growing up, nearly 6 months old now, and finding her adventurous Paws! We are lucky to have a large garden, which the Canine Crew enjoy to the full, and which the Other Half and I have very little time to keep trim! But, there are bushes and shrubs and some lovely mature trees.. with one tall Fir in the middle. The other day I was trying to get everyone in and settled before going to work, and Bramble wasn’t with them, so I went back out into the garden and called her particular ‘Call’. I then heard a familiar ‘mew’...some way above my head...and yes, looking up into the Fir tree, I saw 2 large eyes staring down from a very high branch and an expression that read.. ‘ I’m very high up and I can’t get down!’ Remembering that Cats have to be taught how to turn on the trunk and to travel down backwards; I encouraged her to walk down the branches first towards me, then, when she got to the main trunk, I turned her carefully round, and helped her climb backwards down to the floor. Fantastic! I stroked her and praised her highly, turned to go back in the house and, when back inside, looked back for Bramble-Kat... who had promptly gone straight back up the tree again! Thankfully, I watched her try out her new found skill of walking backwards.. downwards... and all was well...Phew!
