Ninfield

Sunshine, and then Snow!: Well, it's a bit brighter anyway; although the swift drop in temperature was somewhat alarming, and sent higher tog duvets and jumpers flying to the fore! Its quite amazing how a small scattering of snow can cause one to suddenly shiver as if on the north face of Everest....or on the set of the BBC's series '˜Dickensian'! Hilarious! Sumptuous it may be, and with a huge stellar cast, but that warehouse conversion in East London must be the snowiest landscape around....and the most expensive, at half a million pounds per episode!

Tenuously linking from T.V Drama to Ninfield Memorial Hall...there’s a jump! Well, not really. Over the 100 years that the Memorial hall has stood in Ninfield, there have been countless performances by amateurs and professionals alike, all on the lovely, and rare, raked stage. From Pantomimes by the N.A.T.S, to the Brighton Revue Company Revusichall shows, from Primary school Nativity plays to Burlesque and Big Bands; the Hall has served its audiences well, and with the current, ongoing refurbishment, will continue to do so for another 100 years. Funds are constantly being raised and the next set of improvements will be to have the stage sanded and treated ( no more splinters!) then new sound boarding above the stage, new tracking and new Front of House curtains. There is also the hope that a substantial projection screen will be purchased so it will be possible to run films, and have an extra resource for corporate functions. All good news! So, with this Ninfield landmark in mind, here are some events over the next few weeks, in the Hall, that you might like to take note of!
