NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH: There have been a number of reports of attempted fraud using the telephone. The most recent has been a call purporting to be from BT saying you have not paid your bill and if you do not pay now you will be cut off. It is not true and whatever the person says do not give them any financial information. Other calls may be about financial matters pretending to be from your bank or building society, or telling you there is a problem on your computer, or your SKY card need replacing, or an offer of a job, or from someone you have applied for a job, or telling you that you have won a prize in a lottery. The common thing with all these fraudulent calls is they try to get confidential information from you. Even simple things like your date of birth should not be given to someone over the phone, and certainly not your PIN number and similar financial information. The bank and police would never ask for such things over the phone. If you receive such a call ring off, and phone the organisation yourself using a phone number obtained independently and, as these fraudsters are very cunning, check that your phone is working normally by phoning a friend or someone else before phoning the bank etc. If you have a query you can call Rod Ffoulkes on 893635.

HOOE OPEN GROUP: The Hooe Open Group held their monthly meeting on Friday, February 13, at Hooe Village Hall. The meeting was well attended, filling most of the available space, which also had to accommodate space necessary for practicing the exercises demonstrated by the guest speaker Celia King, who is a highly qualified physiotherapist specialising in providing mobility to those who are unable to fully exercise due to age or infirmity. Everyone was encouraged to participate; most of the exercises were movements that could be carried out when seated. Each exercise was intended to increase the movement of certain joints and rebuild muscles strength which had weakened due to lack of movement or pain. At the end of a continuous set of exercises, the members were keen to know more about their own problems with mobility and how to overcome them, which kept Celia King very busy throughout tea time also asking how to contact her privately. The afternoon ended at 4 p.m. with the usual raffle, offering many worthwhile prizes for the picking. The next meeting will be on March 13, 2 p.m. Alan Tidmarsh OBE, the well known BBC personality who for many years was a BBC Overseas Correspondent, will be telling the club about his life and times. On this occasion husbands, men friends and “Toy boys” are invited to join their ladies! NWMC: Ninfield Working Mens Club charity fund raising committee have this week donated £500 to Dragonflies (Childrens bereavement charity in Hastings),

£500 to the Coronary Care Unit at the Conquest Hospital, Hastings and £1000 was recently given to Canine Partners. NWMC would like to say a big thank you to all who came and those that kindly donate towards their fundraising. Their next Charity Coffee Morning will be in March, the date to be arrangement. They are also working on the Charity they will be supporting for the coming year. So please clear out your unwanted gifts as your donations are very much appreciated. NINFIELD ACTION GROUP: NAGs are holding a Drop In Coffee Morning tomorrow, Saturday, February 21, at the Methodist Hall from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. It will be an opportunity for residents to catch up with the latest news, views and details about the application for development, while also registering any thoughts and ideas that they would like to add. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to go and have a chat over tea, coffee and cake! See posters and flyers that are up around the village for further details.

U18 FOOTBALL: The match planned for last Sunday was unfortunately cancelled. Weather and pitch permitting, this Sunday, February 22, they are at home against Raw Skills Rangers, 10.30 a.m.They will also be playing at home next week, March 1, against TW Youth Ridgewaye. The really tough match will be on March 8 at home on Ninfield Rec, when they face Pevensey and Westham. MESSY CHURCH: Messy Church takes place again at Ninfield Methodist on Wednesday, February 25, at 3.30 p.m. (straight after school). They will enjoy all sorts of creative activities, obstacle courses, a short celebration and a meal for children & parents together. The theme this month will be signposts & ‘The way to go...?’ Children between ages of 4-11 years need to be accompanied by their parent or carer.

CAFE CHURCH: Ninfield Methodist Church invite you to Cafe Church. For all-ages on Sunday, March 1, at 10.30 a.m. and will include breakfast of croissant, jams, cheese, coffee / juice. Make a date - they look forward to seeing you.

NINFIELD FLOWER GROUP: Monday, March 2, in the Memorial Hall, Ninfield Flower Group welcome Gill Smaggasgale with her demonstration entitled “Listening in Colour”. Non members are welcome at a charge of £4.00 to include refreshments. All flowers demonstrated will be raffled at the end of the evening. FIRST RESPONDERS: The Bexhill & District Community First Responders, who cover Bexhill, Ashburnham, Ninfield, Catsfield, Crowhurst, Hooe , Whydown & Normans Bay, will be meeting on Wednesday, March 4.
