NINFIELD ACTION GROUP: Following a successful meeting held last week, the NAG have appointed a chairman; David Swales. If you require any information regarding the housing issues that NAG are challenging, in the first instance, you can contact David at [email protected]. Alternatively, you can also view their Facebook page (ninfieldactiongroup) for the latest news. The group has been set up to represent those from the whole village who are apposed to the proposed developments within the village. As such, there is no charge for membership to the group and they respect that some people may having differing views. The group anticipates that they may require to fundraise at some point in the near future for a ‘Fighting Fund‘ to assist them in their fight against our village’s future development. There will be more on this as and when the group release further details. The group acknowledge that to enable some families to stay within Ninfield, a certain number of starter homes are required however, they challenge some aspects of the proposals such as the infrastructure of schools, surgeries and highways. “The ‘10 children’ [Ingrams Green developemnt] is simply those of PRIMARY school age and ignores secondary or post 16 educational places”. If anyone can offer any time or expertise to the group, they would very much appreciate it. Please contact David as above.

HOOE OPEN GROUP: The Hooe Open Group (Ladies Club) held their AGM on Friday, January 9. Group organiser, Edna Wallis, gave her review of the past year’s activity, which marked a further increase in the membership, which has now passed 40 as well as the full programme of events and speakers. The accounts showed a positive balance, enabling the Club to further support local and National charities. In the past year both Air Ambulance Service and Barby Keel Animal Rescue have both benefitted by donations from the Club. Edna was able to confirm that the membership subscription would remain at £10 and day visitors at £2.00. The only increase will be the raffle, which will be £1.00 for a strip of tickets, in order that the quality of the prizes can be maintained at a high level. Edna thanked all the members for their support of the Bring & Buy Table, which significantly contributed to the Club’s funds.

A full programme of speakers and events for 2015 is already in place, with many personalities relating the highlights of their career as well as advice on subjects such as health and fitness.
