U18’S FOOTBALL: Kevin Regan is keeping us all informed with the progress of Ninfield’s Under 18’s football: Ninfield Under 18’s had a frustrating match against Rusthall on Sunday. Firstly the kick off was delayed for an hour, which doesn’t help lads of their age to keep focussed. They did start well and for the first 25 minutes dominated the exchanges, and deserved to take the lead with great team work and excellent finishing. Whether they then felt it was “Job Done” or not, they eased the pressure and handed the initiative to Rusthall who came back strongly, especially in the second half when their pressure began to tell. The defence was getting swamped and long ball clearances were simply falling to their attackers, so the pressure was immediately back on. Rusthall managed an equaliser and almost took all the points for a win at the final whistle. If nothing else, the keeper proved his worth with a string of saves, but it was starting to look desperate and the team need to understand that is exactly what they are - a team, not a collection of talented individuals too selfish to share moving the ball around. An individual flash of skill is all very well, but unless it gets the ball in the net, it’s just another chance for the opposition to take control. Two points lost there, rather than one point gained. A bit more focus, a bit more support for each other and the wins will start coming. It doesn’t get easier so understand that it needs maximum effort for 90 minutes, not a bit here and there. Your supporters know you have the ability, so use it and show us that you have what it takes to come away with a win. Do it for us and yourselves. Now let’s have of a string of wins for the rest of the season and you’ll have a chance of promotion. I myself am forever telling the children at my school there is no I in team and to utilise the whole team’s strengths. Lets hope that the boys come together and get some wins.

HOUSING: In response to the Parish Council Housing Survey in August, the Ninfield Action Group (NAG) was formed as a result of the enormous response from residents against the threat of over development in the village. Rydon Homes recently submitted outline planning for 55 houses at Ingrams Green and the Parish Council had to submit their response to Wealden District Council by December 9. The general public have up to December 19 (at the very latest) to submit their objections. We need to present a strong case to Wealden District Council that this development is too large for the facilities of the village and infrastructure to cope with. NAG are circulating flyers and posters for residents to display, with all the information you need, the posters are already laminated for external display or in cars. To object to the application, write (in your own words) to: Claire Turner, Planning Officer, Wealden District Council, Planning Department. Council Offices, Vicarage Lane, Hailsham BN27 2AX. Outline Planning Application: WD/2014/2359/MAO: Land at Ingrams Farm, Ninfield, East Sussex. If this goes through it weakens our stand against any future development proposals. Don’t let the developers turn Ninfield into a suburb of Sidley or Bexhill. The group also have a closed group facebook page - Ninfieldactiongroup - for residents to register and see what is going on. The support from the display of the posters has been extremely good. If you have any questions or comments, please use the facebook page to get involved. The NAG team end with: “We needed to put up a strong case for Objection on Ingrams Farm as otherwise more potential sites around the village will be harder to defend. We’ll have to wait to see how much Wealden listen to us or the developer.”

PARISH COUNCIL THANKS: The Parish Council would like to thank everyone that assisted with putting together our response to the Ingrams Green outline planning application. If it wasn’t for all of the time residents spent reading through various reports and researching key information, we would not have been able to submit our detailed 5 page response within the very tight time-frames set. STAMPS: Ninfield Working Mens Club are asking you to save your stamps for their charity, Canine Partners, who work in conjunction with Guide Dogs for the Blind. Stamp donations can be dropped off to the working mens club or you can call Marjorie on 892239.

CAFE CHURCH: Ninfield Methodist Church are holding a Cafe Church on Sunday, December 7, 10.30 - 11.30 a.m. You are invited to their monthly family service which includes breakfast. Cafe Church services take place on the first Sunday each month.

HOOE OPEN GROUP: The Hooe Open Group (Ladies Club) December meeting is the club’s Christmas luncheon at the Cooden Beach Golf Club, when guests are invited to join in the celebrations. If you are interested in joining Hooe Open Group (Ladies Club) why not call Edna on 01424 842591.

NINFIELD HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY: On Monday December 15, it is their members’ Christmas Evening at 7.30 p.m. in the Memorial Hall. The committee are planning some games and will provide drinks. Edible contributions would be appreciated. Do go along, you might win a prize!

MOBILE LIBRARY: The East Sussex County Council Mobile Library service will next be in the villages on December 20 at Hooe, opposite Denbigh Court, 1.50 p.m. - 2.35 p.m. Ninfield, Coombe shaw (off Manchester Road), 2.50 p.m. - 3.25 p.m. Ninfield, Downsview (off Church Lane), 3.40 p.m. - 4.05 p.m.

NINFIELD METHODIST CHURCH: Ninfield Methodist Church looks forward to celebrating Christmas 2014. A new event for their Church will be a CHRISTMAS TREE FESTIVAL, with decorations by local groups, on Saturday/ Sunday December 21 & 22 December, 12 noon – 4.00 p.m. when you can go and see the Trees. On Sunday December 21, the Festival will include a Family Carol Service at 2.30 p.m. This will be a special family service, with their Minister the Rev. Ian Pruden, where you will be able to sing and join in with all your favourite carols and eat some mince pies! Some young people from the village will also be taking part. Then on Christmas Eve (December 24) at 4.30 p.m., they will enjoy and worship God together in a ‘Christingle Service’ for all ages. The Ninfield Scouts & other young people will take part as they share together in a service that shows Jesus as ‘The Light of the World.’ The outside of their Church will be lit by lanterns & inside by candlelight. Do go along and enjoy this service as you prepare for Christmas 2014. A very Happy Christmas to you all.

FIRST RESPONDERS: The Bexhill & District Community First Responders, who cover Bexhill, Ashburnham, Ninfield, Catsfield, Crowhurst, Hooe , Whydown & Normans Bay, will be meeting on Wednesday, January 7.
