Hooe Open Group: The Hooe Open Group Ladies Club held their monthly meeting on Friday, September 12 at Hooe Village Hall, which was very well attended. they heared the hair raising account of pirates and murder on the High Seas by the heroin of the hour, Linda Robertson, who battled against all odds to save herself against the marauders after they had killed her husband, which occurred on the Indian Ocean, near the cost of Thailand. Linda and her husband set out from the UK in their newly built 48ft motor yacht, Mr. Bean (named after the coffee shops the family owned) to sail around the World. They were hi-jacked at night by three young men using a rubber dingy, who boarded the yacht and entered the cabin, where Linda’s husband Malcolm confronted them and endeavoured to restrain them but in doing so one of the youths cut his throat and he bled to death. Linda was bound up and unable to move. The pirates took all that they thought was valuable and left. Linda managed to eventually free herself and using the ships radio summoned help from the Thai Coast Guard, who came to her aid within half an hour and were also able to track down the perpetrators, who were known criminals. The meeting had its usual level of friendly interface with tea served in bone china cups, which gives the club a “Touch of Class”. The “Bring & Buy” table was very well supported with many excellent items for sale. The monthly raffle was, as always, popular with top class prizes to be won. The next meeting will be on Friday, October 10, when the speaker Barry Wilkinson will be relating his experiences as a prison warder. If you are interested in joining a very friendly and jolly group of ladies, who enjoy each other’s company, why not go along to Hooe Village Hall on the second Friday of the month at 2.30 p.m., you will be made very welcome.
