Our local policing team advise that there have been several reports of suspicious activity in our area recently.

If you see any of the following and it doesn’t look right, please contact our local policing team: Vehicle driving by slowly taking interest in your home, someone trying to open your neighbour’s door or an unattended car or house with window open. You can call them by dialing 101.

new children’s drop-in arts exploration space is coming to Ninfield on a Tuesday (term time only) from 10am - 12pm at Ninfield Reading Room, Church Lane. ArtMonkey Studios is a children’s mobile art studio providing child led art to develop their learning and exploration. There is a weekly fee of £5 per child. Hooe Open Group will be meeting today, Friday September 14 at Hooe Village Hall, 2.30pm. The presentation which was planned for the September was entitled “A Touch of Class” which was going to be a selection of glamorous cloths, selling for a greatly reduced price. However the presentation has had to be postponed due to unforeseen circumstances. However the club has managed to secure the services of Alan Stainsby who is an historian specialising in Bodium Castle and will give a talk entitled “The History and legends of Bodium Castle”. As usual there will be the “Bring & Buy” table and raffle. Come along and enjoy the company and be a part of the friendly atmosphere, which is the feature of the Hooe Open Group. Non members are welcome to come along at the nominal cost of £2, which includes tea & biscuits. If you choose to become a member the cost is £10, which includes your visitor’s fee. BURLESQUE! is back with the next session today, Friday September 14 at 7.15pm at the Memorial Hall, Ninfield... usual fun with refreshments and a good time had at the Ladies Club!!

The East Sussex County Council Mobile Library service will next be in the villages on, September 15 & 29:

Hooe, opposite Denbigh Court, 1.50pm - 2.35pm.

Ninfield, Millfield (off Manchester Road), 2.50pm - 3.25pm.

Ninfield, Downsview (off Church Lane), 3.40pm - 4pm.

Ninfield Local History Group are meeting on Thursday September 20. There will be a talk by John Cheshire entitled ‘What the Census Tells Us’. On Thursday October 18 a guest from Bexhill Museum will be talking about The Brassey Family. Everyone is welcome to the meetings. There is a charge of £1 for members and £2 for non-members to help cover the cost of refreshments and guest speakers. Annual membership costs £10. Hooe Parish Council are next meeting on September 27 at Hooe Village Hall, 7.30pm. All Hooe residents are welcome to attend.

Ninfield Bonfire Society are holding their first Jumble Sale on September 29 at the Memorial Hall, Ninfield. Doors open at 2.00pm. Ninfield Flower Group are meeting on October 1, 7.30pm at the Memorial Hall. This month they welcome Julie Brownlee with her demonstration entitled “Isn’t it Lovely”. All flowers demonstrated will be raffled at the end of the evening. Non members are welcome for a charge of £3.00 which includes refreshments.
