‘No’ to historic Littlehampton pub’s facelift bid

CHANGES proposed for a Littlehampton pub, a Grade II listed building, have been rejected by Arun planners.

The owners of the White Hart, in Surrey Street, wanted to add a new porch, change the windows and install railings, all at the front of the pub.

Arun officers refused planning permission on the grounds that the changes ‘would constitute an unsympathetic form of development on the sensitive historic character of the building. . . and would neither preserve nor enhance the character of the conservation area’.

Objections to the plans were lodged by Littlehampton Town Council, Arun’s historic buildings adviser and its conservation area advisory committee.
