The outbreak started on May 25 when the four people became ill at the hospital, which has just 20 beds. No staff were affected.

Although the source of the outbreak is not known, West Sussex Primary Care Trust (PCT) said it could not be treated but would eventually run its course.
Speaking to the Gazette yesterday (Wednesday) a spokeswoman for the PCT said the infection had cleared and that she was waiting for the all-clear for the hospital to re-open, which she expected to happen soon.
