Open Gardens: Two gardens in Northiam open on Tuesday (19th) in aid of St Michael's Hospice, 10.30am to 4pm. Glebe House, on Hastings Road, and South Grange, Quickbourne Lane. Entry to both gardens is £5, and refreshments will be available at Glebe House.

Over 60s: A flower arrangement in a tea cup – that’s your challenge for Over 60s on Tuesday. Meetings are held in the Village Hall on the first and third Tuesdays of the month at 2pm and you are very welcome to drop in and see how you would fit in.

Coffee Stop: Call into the Church Centre on Wednesday mornings for coffee and a chat at Coffee Stop, between 10 and 12 noon. Lace Group meets in the Jenkins Room at 2pm.

Thursday Seniors: Thursday Seniors’ Club meets every Thursday in Northiam Village Hall from 10.30am until 2.30pm. All pensioners are welcome, and free door to door transport can be arranged for anyone in Northiam, Beckley, Peasmarsh and Broad Oak if you are on the Rye Community Bus route. The cost is £7 and includes welcome tea/coffee, a freshly cooked 2 course meal, extend chair exercises and a talk/entertainment. Call Joan 252568, Jane 252973 or Linda 252283 to find out more as a member or a helper. This week, the Citizens’ Advice Bureau will also be available between 10-12.

School: Always a special day in the school’s year, the final day for some at Northiam Primary School. We say goodbye and good luck to our oldest pupils with the School Leavers’ Service in St Mary’s Church at 9.30am.

Village Fair: Marie Edwards (01797 253264) is taking bookings for the stalls – crafts and local organisations – and boot fair pitches for the Village Fair to be held on the Playing Fields on Saturday 6th August. Colin Cross (233258) is the contact for the vintage car and motorcycle rally, and Helen Sitford (252152) for the dog show.
