Church Flowers: The flowers in St Mary’s for Easter were stunning, and thanks must go to a very small band of arrangers for their commitment over the year to making our church beautiful. If you ever need a pick-me-up, just wander in, and you will always find some lovely arrangements of flowers, as well as the show stoppers for the major festivals. Many people had made donations in memory of loved ones, so it was a time to think of passed friends in the context of the joy of Easter.

Badminton: Back after a short break, the badminton clubs meet on Fridays in the Pretious Sports Hall – Juniors from 5.30pm (please call Pete Thomson 07815 842517 to check whether there are any spaces). Adults meet at 8.30pm on Fridays and 5.45pm on Mondays, and both adult clubs will be pleased to see new faces – just turn up.

Dance Club: Dance Club meets on Friday evenings in the Village Hall for sequence dancing. This is a very accessible way to keep fit to music, and meet people. Call Tony Pomfret - 253287 – if you are interested.

Fun Dog Walk: Join with other dog-lovers for a fun walk organised by the Blue Cross on Sunday. The scenic walk around the lanes and footpaths of Northiam will leave at 10am, returning about midday for hot and cold refreshments. Minimum donation of £5 per dog.

Parish Meeting: The annual Parish Meeting will be held on Tuesday 14th April at 7pm – always a good time to catch up with village news. There will be a Planning meeting about Donsmead on 16th.

Young People: The youngsters are catered for on Tuesdays in the Pretious Sports Hall, with Streetstyle Dance at 6pm and 7pm. If you have any budding dancers interested, please call Beth on 07890 764995.

The Youth Fun Bus will be available from 6.30pm on Wednesday in the Jenkins Room.

Coffee Stop: Meet up with familiar faces at Coffee Stop each Wednesday in the Church Centre between 10am and 12 noon.

Footpath Walk: Leave the surgery car park at 9am on Wednesday for a 10am start at the Blue Anchor pub, Ruckinge for a 6 mile walk with the Footpath Group, with a pub lunch.

Lace Group: The Lace Group meets in the Jenkins Room on Wednesday at 2pm.

Seniors’ Club: All pensioners are welcome to the Club which meets each Thursday in Northiam Village Hall. There is always plenty to do and chat about, and whilst everyone arrives about 10.30, there is tea and coffee and the chance to take a look at the bring and buy stall, or the bring and win raffle. After extend chair exercises to improve mobility, members are served a two course home-cooked lunch followed by the week’s entertainment – this week, Sally Bickersteth will be giving an update from Chitiwiri. Chitiwiri: In May, there will be another collection to raise money for the projects that we support in Chitiwiri, Malawi. If you have any unwanted clothes, pairs of shoes, curtains, bed linen, bags, belts or perfume and would like to help Sally and Richard Bickersteth raise money for the community of Chitiwiri, please put them in tied bin liners or call at Forge House for green bags.

Showtimers: Food Glorious Food – Showtimers will be presenting a Musical Comedy Supper Show in the Village Hall on Friday 17th and Saturday 18th April at a cost of £12. Tickets are from ticketsource, or 01797 252918. We are promised over an hour of song, dance and comedy in Showtimers’ inimitable style, along with a ploughmans and dessert. It sounds a great evening out.

Golf Day: A 9 hole Golf Morning will be held at London Beach Golf Club on Saturday 25th April. The day will start with a bacon roll and coffee before the tee-off at 10am. Lunch will follow the golf. The cost is £25, with all proceeds going to St Mary’s Church. If you are interested in joining in, please contact Jonathan King – 07702 777892.

Hospice Coffee Morning: One of the problems with having such a busy village is that sometimes events overlap. So please could you make a note that the Coffee Morning and Bric-a-brac Sale in aid of St Michael’s Hospice with be on Saturday 16th May, and not as advertised.
